Cyrus Diagnostic Imaging in Lake Mary is proud to introduce our latest equipment upgrade, a Siemens Skyra 3 Tesla (3T) Wide Bore, and it is the only imaging system of this type available in Seminole County. This machine will be available to our patients and referring physicians in April 2018.
Although open MRI has been available in this area for some time, the open wide bore advanced technology provides higher quality imaging. The machine design is good for patients who are claustrophobic or who may be larger in size, as many exams can be performed with the patient’s head outside of the bore. The larger bore opening allows patients more room during the exam and the shorter length of the machine can help reduce patients’ anxiety.
MRI is a safe and painless exam that uses a magnetic field and radio waves, instead of radiation, to create a detailed picture of the inside of the body. The test works well for a variety of conditions, including problems of the brain, spinal cord, chest, lungs, stomach, joints, wrists, ankles and more. During the MRI exam, radio waves work with the body’s atoms to send millions of calculations to a computer. These are turned into three-dimensional (3-D) pictures that help pinpoint problems in the body. Cyrus Diagnostic’s new MRI machine has cutting-edge technology to provide high quality 3-D images.
The 3T wide bore machine replaces the Open MRI unit previously utilized at Cyrus Diagnostic Imaging.
